Principal's Message
Dear Families,
Last week, staff were involved in professional development, facilitated by Peta Murray, Inclusive Education- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Consultant. We spoke about what our vision for Reconciliation was for us as St James community. As a staff we reflected on the need for inclusivity, understanding, for hope and compassion. We look forward to continuing this work with Peta each term.
Student illness & Uniform:
Unfortunately, many of our students and staff are experiencing sniffles and coughs which are easily shared. We respectfully ask, that if your child is unwell that you keep them at home to rest and recover. A question has been raised around students wearing their green jackets in class. The confusion is between the school jackets and the black puffer jackets. Green jackets can be worn in class. If puffer jackets are needed to keep our children rugged up, please remind them not to wear these in class. We do need to address our current uniform as it is not as warm as we would like it to be. If you have any interest in reviewing the current uniform, please reach out.
Working Bee:
We have a working bee scheduled for Sunday June 15. Currently, two parents have offered to help. Please rally around our P&F and help out if you can, responses can be added to this form - working bee .
Staffing:
We are excitedly waiting for the birth of Mrs S’ (Sally’s) third bundle of joy. Sally will begin her parental leave at the beginning of term three and is planning to return in 2026. In Sally’s absence, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Zafia Bano to the school finance position. Zafia will be training with Sally this term and officially commencing the role at the beginning of Term 3.
Mrs Veldman is remaining on leave for 2025 we continue to look for a suitable replacement.
Mr Gulavin has unfortunately indicated that he is unable to continue as our PE teacher. Zach will complete his time at St James at the end of this term once he returns next week from his teaching rounds. As a pre-service teacher, Zach will be continuing to study, and we wish him all the best as he completes his final, jam-packed semester at university. We continue to look for a suitable replacement.
Mrs Roche is on leave this week and enjoying being Nana as she spends time with her first Grandchild Amira. We’re looking forward to seeing lots of new photos next week!
I am at the Gippsland Primary Principal’s Conference next week Wednesday- Friday. Kathy is available in my absence.
Congratulations to Jay, Holly, Lachlan and Sonny for representing our school at District Cross Country last week.

To access the Schoolzine calendar through the app you will be prompted to enter a password - James4011
This year St James will be using two main platforms of communication with our families - PAM and Schoolzine.
To ensure that you keep up to date with what is happening with your children and within the school please ensure that you have access to these platforms and are familiar with their uses.
If you require assistance with accessing or setting up these platforms, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
From time to time it will also be necessary for emails and text messages to be sent.

This is an app that you have on your phone and allows for easy reading of the newsletter, as it customises to the screen and translates into many languages if required.
