Principal's Message
St James Feast Day Celebrations~ We are looking forward to celebrating our Feast Day on Friday. Families and extended family are warmly invited to join us.
St James was invited by Jesus to follow him. Without hesitation, James laid down his fishing nets and went with Jesus.
His ministry was one of faith, strength and hope and this is represented by the scallop shell which he would pick up at the beginning of each pilgrimage.
The image of the scallop shell also reminds us to reach out in ministry and service to others, sharing the Good News of the Gospel, and follow The St James Way, acting with faith, strength, hope and love.

Please note- CHANGE OF DATE- School closure moved to August 19
Due to clashes with staff professional learning, we have had to move our scheduled school closure on Friday August 23 to Monday August 19. Unfortunately, we did not have the August 23 date confirmed as a PL for some staff when we set our closures in October last year.
BOOK WEEK Celebrations- August 20 - READING IS MAGIC
To celebrate Book Week we will be sharing the shortlisted books in class. However, to launch this special week, we will be having a Book Week Parade where students are invited to dress up or just bring their most loved book. The Parade will take place on Tuesday August 20 at 9am. Please note that this replaces our normal assembly on Wednesday August 21.

First Aid Update
As part of St James' commitment to provide a child safe environment, all staff are trained in First Aid, CPR, Anapylaxis, Asthma and Epilepsy. Records of incidents, injuries and first aid treatment are documented. First aid records are retained within the school and a copy is emailed to parents to inform them of the incident/injury.
When a student bumps or bangs their head, it can be difficult to tell whether the injury is serious or not. Any knock to the head from the base of the neck up, is considered a head injury and reporting to parents/carers is mandatory.
At St James when we believe that a child has had a head injury, even if a slight bump, it is our responsibility to monitor the student and to contact the parent/carer. If symptoms persist or worsen parents will be required to pick up their child for monitoring and/or to seek medical attention.
