Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our students are to be commended on their respectful participation in Monday's Remembrance Day Ceremony. Their presence and degree of involvement was noted by the RSL in an email later that day. "On behalf of the Nar Nar Goon RSL we wish to pass on our thanks for attending the service today. It was great to see so many students in attendance and their involvement was greatly appreciated." Thank you also to the parents who were able to come and support our students and the wider community.
As part of our commitment to student wellbeing, we have been looking into various supports that teachers can implement across classes. After much research and consultation, we have engaged with The Resilience Project. Onboarding in preparation for 2025 launch begins tomorrow. Julieanne Dell'Oro will lead this initiative as part of the Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS)/ Wellbeing role. We thank Julieanne for her ongoing work in this space.
We have also been reviewing our Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support, with an emphasis on our school wide expectations. For the remainder of the term we will be re-teaching and focusing on:
Responsible- we use our equipment and spaces appropriately
Respectful- we use kind and calm words, actions and body language
Safe- we are mindful of others' personal space and keep our hands to ourselves
Keep an eye out for Julieanne's wellbeing updates in future newsletters.
Have a good week, Bec

The Resilience Project
We are super excited to be implementing The Resilience Project across the school in 2025! The Resilience Project’s mission is to teach positive mental health strategies to inspire happiness and change lives.
Students, families and staff at St James will be provided with practical, evidence-based mental health strategies to build resilience and happiness, while developing their Emotional Literacy and sense of Connection.
Students will be guided through explicit lessons focussing on the benefits of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness, and provided with easy ways to practise these in everyday life.
Over the next few weeks Mrs Kollaris and myself will be undertaking further training to support the implementation of this wonderful program, so please watch this space!
